Change Your Mind, Change Your Life

believeChange your mind, change your life…do you believe this can be done?  Think of this way, we are constantly surrounded by people, places, and things.  Consequently, influential practices will enter into this arena, whereby, you will be affected.  Remember, we are all by-products of our environment, and we have the ability to change our environment.  Most times this change occurs when one has said “enough is enough”.  Generally, someone has thought about their current situation and made a decision to change the circumstances.  Aha…this transition took place in the mind—they thought.

How are you implementing this in your daily life?  Are you making decisions to read wholesome material?  Are you deciding to forego the television shows or phone conversations that are not healthy to your well being?  Are you thinking about how these things have been affecting your life for years?  Perhaps you are just now beginning to process that you can train your brain.  Whatever the case may be and however you found yourself here—the point is, you are here.

Today is a good day to bring your life back into balance.  Today is an excellent day for awareness.  Start with your breathing.  From this moment forward, focus on your breathing and the goodness it entails.  First of all, you are alive.  Having come to grips with this, what are you going to do today that will have an impact positively on your life and others?  Think about that for a while.  If you are not satisfied with the answer, re-evaluate.

Are you finding yourself stressed, under pressure, living in constant conflict?  Stop and think about your situation; and assess what you CAN do to make a positive change.  Do not allow yourself to become so consumed with the “can nots” of the situation, that stress overpowers you.  Instead, change your mind, change your life.

Help!—Someone I Know Is Battling Anxiety

anxietySomeone you know is struggling with fear and anxiety and you are unsure of how to help.  That is totally understandable.  Did you know that one of the first things you should do is seek professional guidance?  I know that may sound a bit crazy, but let’s think about this for a minute.  If you have a problem with your car and you do not know the first thing about cars, what do you do…you call a professional (or at least someone you view as a professional in that arena).  Perhaps your issue is with plumbing, roofing, or building a new home…you get the picture, right?  In essence, getting professional help for their fears and anxiety is very important.

In addition, here are a few key pointers to help you help someone else:

  • Encourage them to take one day at a time
  • Place focus on the here and now (not past or future)
  • Overcome negative statements with positivity (replace don’t with do)
  • Visualize their happy place (i.e. beach, mountains, etc.)
  • Pray for them and pray with them

Take refuge in knowing that our God is stronger than any fear we may encounter.  His Word is filled with ways to help us overcome the day to day trials of life.  Be consistent and persistent with the person you are helping and remember, when things are beyond your scope of understanding or area of expertise, seek professional guidance.

Raising Healthy, Happy Children

healthy-happy-childrenToday we are experiencing an epidemic of overweight children.  What happened to kids playing outside all day until the street lights came on?  Why are our children no longer playing kickball, or climbing trees?  It seems as though every place we look, there is an electronic device attached to our children…cell phones, tablets, laptops, iPods, and the list is ongoing.  It is fair to say that an obese child will have a greater tendency to become an obese adult.  While the chubbiness may appear to be cute when they are younger, we all know that this is not the case as they enter into adolescence and adulthood.  Unfortunately, the children may develop an inferiority complex and other personality issues.

Let’s come together and help these children reclaim their lives!  How?

  • Prepare healthier meals together
  • Schedule physical activities for pleasure (i.e. bike riding, walking, swimming, sports, etc.)
  • Educate on the importance of health and one body
  • Shop for more fruits and vegetables to have as snacks
  • Listen, did I say listen…again I say listen

Take the time to talk with your children and take the time to actually listen to their responses.  Try to find out if your child is stress eating.  Pay attention to your child’s schedule and change in behavior.  We can help our children combat obesity, depression, and other conditions battling our children, in order to do so, we need to make ourselves available.

If you are unsure of how to talk with your child about a given topic, schedule your COMPLIMENTARY phone consultation with LAE-LAH Inc. and let us help guide you.  Be Blessed.  Be Whole.  Be You.signature

The Fruit that Ruined Your Tree

bad-fruitLet’s face it, we all experience that one family member that seems to disrupt our family gatherings at some time or another.  It could be in the attitude one presents or it could be the one that never smiles in the family photos.  In the utopian society, everything would always flow as planned.  Reality check—we do not live in that ideal world—by all means do not let this deter you.

We are all byproducts of our environment, however, we do not have to allow ourselves to be stuck in that state.  Perhaps you were raised in a home of alcoholics or in an environment where there is excessive drug use.  Maybe your caretakers were overly obese, thereby, allowing you to eat whatever you want and now you too are battling obesity.  We are not perfect beings—HOWEVER…

You do not have to allow yourself to stay stuck in an unhealthy environment.  Find comfort in praying for those around you.  Pray for those who have impacted you directly or indirectly.  Today is the day to make a decision to rise above whatever has been holding you hostage.  There is no need for us to play the role of victim.  Life happens and the journey may be rough, but we do not have to stay there.

Today is the day to rise above.  Schedule your COMPLIMENTARY phone consultation with LAE-LAH Inc. TODAY…do not put this off any longer…you are well onto your way of healing.  Be Blessed.  Be Whole.  Be You.signature

Welcome to Motherhood…Introduction

motherhood-introPartaking in the creation of life is a wonderful experience.  Think about it, for nine months (give or take) a baby is growing in your womb.  Granted there will be good times and not so good times during this experience, nevertheless, the experience is there.  I can recall the anticipation of all my bundles of joy.  I remember them all so vividly as though it was just yesterday.  I remember the kicks and movement within.  The greatest memory is when the tiny bundles were placed into my arms for the very first time, each time, three times total.

Parents, please understand that taking on this very important role in life is a sacrificial role.  There is no room for selfishness, especially in the early stages.  There is a being that has now become totally dependent on you.

Moms, you have just advanced from morning sickness and all the other “quirky” things that come along with a pregnancy to having a little one in your home disrupting every routine you previously had in place.  There will be multitudes of adjustments—sleep schedule, meal preparation, house cleaning, etc.  I think you get the picture.  No need to panic~~remember that you still need to tend to self in order to be of great benefit to this new bundle which you have now welcomed into your home.

LAE-LAH Inc will be presenting this as an open forum for discussion regarding your concerns of self-care.  This article is part of a series, so please subscribe and stay in the know.  We will be addressing signs of pregnancy, things pregnant women should do and not do, stress management, time management, etc.  We would love to hear from you, so please do not hesitate to comment or reach out.  Be Blessed.  Be Whole.  Be You.

Failure is a Curse Word

failureFailure is a curse word—when you are a child of God.  Why?  Because nothing you can do will fail.  You may not achieve the results you desire, but Christ is always working behind the scenes on our behalf.

The term fail has such a negative connotation attached to it and can leave a person feeling as though they are just that—a failure.  As Christians, we are so much more than that.  We are engaged in battles that have already been won, therefore, we should not consume our thoughts with thoughts of failure.  Instead, focus on the positives that are going on in your life and discover ways to grow from the mistakes that have been made.

I am a firm believer that if you make 100 different mistakes, you are learning and growing.  If you make the same mistake 100 times, you have created a bad habit through the choices you have made.

Are you willing to make a commitment to be the best you can be?  Are you open to learning and growing?  Will you start today?  Schedule your COMPLIMENTARY PHONE CONSULTATION now.  Be Blessed.  Be Whole.  Be You. signature

Success—How is it Determined?

How successful are you, really?  How do you know?  Who determines your success?  Furthermore, what determines your success?  Are you measuring your success by your neighbors and those around you, or are you measuring your success by the goals you have set and worked toward achieving for yourself?

Hint—the key to success is not to measure it by the standards of the world.
